By registering for or participating in the Kambos Mountain Race, each participant confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Regulations and all other applicable legal documents published by the Organiser.

In the event of any inconsistency, these Event-Specific Regulations shall apply to matters relating specifically to the Kambos Mountain Race.

  • 23 km: 09:15

Participants must arrive at the starting area in sufficient time to collect their race pack, complete any required checks and enter the starting zone.

A participant who arrives after the official start may be refused permission to begin the race and will not be entitled to a refund.

3. PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY AND FITNESS

The 32 km and 23 km races are demanding mountain events intended for experienced and properly prepared mountain runners.

The 12.5 km race requires a good level of physical fitness and previous experience on mountain or trail terrain.

The 5.6 km event may be completed by running or walking and is suitable for new trail runners, nature lovers and walkers with a basic level of fitness.

Every participant is responsible for determining whether they are medically, physically and technically capable of completing their selected event safely.

Participants must not start or continue the race if they are injured, unwell, inadequately prepared or otherwise unable to participate safely.

The Organiser and its authorised race officials may prevent any participant from starting or continuing where they reasonably believe that the participant’s health, fitness, equipment, conduct or condition presents a danger to themselves or others.

4. NATURE OF THE EVENT AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

The Kambos Mountain Race takes place on natural and potentially hazardous mountain terrain.

The courses may include:

  • Steep and prolonged climbs and descents

  • Technical and rocky trails

  • Loose stones, mud, tree roots and uneven surfaces

  • Narrow paths and exposed sections

  • Steep drop-offs

  • Slippery or unstable ground

  • Difficult overtaking points

  • Road crossings and sections accessible to local traffic

  • Remote areas with limited vehicle access

  • Sudden changes in weather

  • Rain, wind, fog, low temperatures or heat

  • Falling rocks, branches and other natural hazards

  • Delays in medical or rescue assistance due to the terrain

Participation in mountain running involves risks including falls, collisions, injury, exhaustion, dehydration, hypothermia, heat-related illness, becoming lost, permanent disability or death.

By participating, each athlete freely and knowingly accepts the ordinary and inherent risks associated with mountain running and outdoor sporting activities.

5. PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES

All participants must:

  • Follow the official course markings.

  • Complete the entire official route.

  • Pass through all checkpoints and timing points in the correct order.

  • Keep their race bib visible throughout the event.

  • Follow the instructions of race marshals, medical personnel, rescuers and the Race Organisation.

  • Behave responsibly towards other participants, volunteers, residents and spectators.

  • Assist another participant in a genuine emergency and notify the nearest race marshal.

  • Avoid littering and dispose of waste only at designated points.

  • Inform the Race Organisation immediately if they withdraw from the race.

  • Carry all mandatory equipment announced for their selected event.

  • Respect the natural environment and private property.

Taking shortcuts, deliberately leaving the marked course, using another person’s bib, transferring a bib without authorisation, receiving prohibited outside assistance, abusive behaviour or refusing an official safety instruction may result in immediate disqualification.

6. SHOES AND MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

Appropriate trail-running shoes are mandatory for participants in the 32 km, 23 km and 12.5 km races.

Appropriate trail-running or hiking shoes are strongly recommended for the 5.6 km Run & Walk.

The Organiser may announce additional mandatory equipment due to the selected distance, weather conditions, trail conditions or safety requirements.

Participants are responsible for checking the latest official race information before race day.

The Organiser may inspect mandatory equipment before the start or during the race. A participant who does not carry the required equipment may be prevented from starting or may be disqualified.

7. COURSE MARKINGS AND NAVIGATION

The courses will be marked at regular intervals and at important junctions.

Participants must remain alert and actively follow the official markings. Course markings may occasionally be moved, damaged, removed or obscured by weather, animals or third parties.

Where available, participants are strongly encouraged to download the official GPX file before race day.

The GPX file is provided as an additional navigation aid and does not replace the official course markings or the instructions of race marshals.

A participant who realises that they have left the official course must return to the last correctly marked point before continuing.

11. CUTOFF RULES AND DNF PROCEDURE

The published cutoff times are mandatory.

Participants must leave each checkpoint before the applicable cutoff time unless otherwise instructed by the Race Organisation.

A participant arriving after a cutoff time must:

  1. Stop participating immediately.

  2. Surrender their race bib to the race marshal.

  3. Follow the instructions of the race marshals.

  4. Use the transport or withdrawal procedure arranged by the Race Organisation, where available.

The participant will be officially classified as DNF – Did Not Finish and is strictly prohibited from continuing as a participant in the race.

Any participant who refuses to stop and continues along the course does so against the instructions of the Race Organisation and entirely at their own risk.

From that moment, the individual will no longer be considered an official participant and will not be entitled to:

  • Electronic timing

  • Official classification or results

  • Finisher status or finisher’s medal

  • Aid-station services

  • Course support

  • Transport arranged for active participants

  • Any other non-emergency event service

Nothing in this provision prevents the Race Organisation from contacting the emergency services where there is a genuine threat to life or safety.

The Organiser may adjust cutoff times before or during the event when reasonably necessary for safety, weather or operational reasons.

12. WITHDRAWAL FROM THE RACE

Any participant who decides to withdraw must immediately notify the nearest race marshal or contact Race Control.

The participant must surrender their race bib where instructed and follow the official withdrawal procedure.

A participant must never leave the event and return home without informing the Race Organisation. Failure to report a withdrawal may result in an unnecessary search and rescue operation.

Where a participant is physically able to do so, they must withdraw at an official checkpoint or aid station.

13. AID STATIONS

Aid stations will be located at designated points along the courses and at the finish.

The services and products available may vary between stations and may be modified for operational or safety reasons.

Participants remain responsible for managing their hydration, nutrition and personal requirements between aid stations.

Aid stations are reserved for active registered participants who have not withdrawn, been disqualified or missed a cutoff time.

Participants must dispose of all waste within the designated areas.

14. MEDICAL AND RESCUE ASSISTANCE

First-aid personnel, volunteers and race marshals will be positioned at selected points along the courses.

Participants must immediately report any accident, injury, missing participant or dangerous condition to the nearest race marshal or Race Control.

The Race Organisation may arrange first aid, evacuation, ambulance transport or other emergency assistance where considered necessary.

Because parts of the courses are remote and difficult to access, immediate medical or rescue assistance cannot be guaranteed at every point.

A participant must accept a decision by medical personnel, rescuers or authorised race officials requiring them to stop.

15. ROUTE CHANGES, WEATHER AND EVENT MODIFICATION

The Organiser reserves the right to modify:

  • The course

  • The race distance

  • The starting time

  • The cutoff times

  • The location or number of aid stations

  • The mandatory equipment

  • Any other operational or safety arrangement

The Organiser may delay, shorten, suspend or cancel a race due to dangerous weather, trail conditions, fire risk, landslides, flooding, instructions from public authorities, emergency situations, force majeure or any other circumstance affecting participant safety.

All such decisions will be made in the interest of participant and volunteer safety.

Registration payments, cancellations, postponements, transfers and refunds are governed by the Event Registration Terms & Conditions of S BODY AND MIND PRODUCTIONS LTD.

16. TIMING, RESULTS AND AWARDS

Electronic timing will be used for the 32 km, 23 km, 12.5 km and 5.6 km events.

Participants must wear their assigned race bib correctly and pass through all timing and checkpoint locations.

Official results may be determined using electronic timing records, manual checkpoint records, photographs, video evidence and reports from race officials.

A participant who misses a checkpoint, leaves the official route, changes or transfers their bib, misses a cutoff or breaches these Regulations may be disqualified.

Finisher medals will be awarded only to participants who complete the entire official course within the applicable time limits.

Awards will be presented to the first three men and first three women in the overall classification of the designated competitive races.

17. KIDS’ 600 M FUN RUN & WALK

The Kids’ 600 m Fun Run & Walk is a participation-focused event taking place within the village of Kambos.

Children may complete the course by running or walking.

Registration will take place at the event venue on race day. A parent or legal guardian must be physically present and provide consent before the child may participate.

The parent or legal guardian is responsible for determining whether the child is medically and physically capable of participating.

All participating children who complete the event will receive a commemorative medal.

The event is intended to promote participation, enjoyment and physical activity. The emphasis is not on competition or finishing position.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising their children before and after the event and must follow all instructions issued by the Race Organisation.

18. PHOTOGRAPHY AND PERSONAL DATA

Photographs, video and audio recordings may be taken during the event.

The use of participant images, race results and personal data is governed by the Participant Declaration, Privacy Policy and Event Registration Terms & Conditions of S BODY AND MIND PRODUCTIONS LTD.

Official results may include the participant’s name, gender, nationality, race category, club, bib number, finishing time and classification.

19. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Participants remain responsible for their personal belongings, equipment and valuables before, during and after the event.

The Organiser accepts no responsibility for items that are lost, stolen, damaged or left unattended, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
